It started with a walk through a cemetery on my way home, leading me to discover another side of London’s history; an unwholesome and morbid discovery. As medical science began to flourish in the early nineteenth century, there was an increased demand of dead bodies for dissection and anatomical studies but the lack of legally available dead bodies led to the rise of questionable occupations. Body snatchers, also known as ‘Resurrectionists’ and murderers known as ‘London Burkers’.

However inhumane, would the advancement of medical science be the same as today without their despicable deeds?
